Climate-Conscious Filmmaking: A Guide for Creative Teams

As part of the m2 Film Development Programme, supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture Grant Programme, we are thrilled to host a vital session on Climate-Conscious Filmmaking: A Guide for Creative Teams with Keir Oldfield-Lewis, Head of Environmental Sustainability at the British Film Institute (BFI). Taking place on May 21 at 2 PM, this webinar will explore how filmmakers can meaningfully integrate climate and environmental themes directly into the script development phase. Beyond the page, Keir—who established the UK’s National Lottery Sustainable Screen Fund—will provide practical guidance on planning and executing environmentally sustainable shoots. Whether you are a writer, director, or producer, this session will equip you with the creative strategies and industry-backed tools needed to reduce your project’s carbon footprint while amplifying impactful, planet-positive storytelling.
